Moon Phases

Right now we are studying the solar system, but at the present moment just the moon. We have talked about the phases of the moon, and they can actually tell me when the moon is waxing and waning. I don't even remember learning this in school! I was blown away that they took to this lesson so fast. They have been engrossed in language like rotating, revolving, and orbiting. I was so surprised that they learned these vocabulary words so fast! Anyway, here is a website that has moon facts and the phases of the moon. Enjoy!

What a great resource! This is stuff I have always wondered about and never knew anyone with the answers. Again, I am adding this to my Favorites list. This time I am adding it just for me! I want to take my time and really study this site. There was a beautiful full moon last night and it was still shining this morning at 4:45 when I got up! Emperical evidence that the full moon does shine from sunset to sunrise.

Wow this is a neat website. I don't think I remember learning the waxing and waning of the moon either. This is definately a site I will use in the future.

Hi Lindsay,
I checked it out, and feel that
this is a great website because of all the dynamic and colorful graphics and linked animations to capture and hold the attention of students! Interesting resources like these are what we need more of to teach science topics!
Thank you!
Diane

You may also want to take a look at the TELLUS SCIENCE MUSEUM set to open up in Cartersville in Jan. I am a gem and mineral dealer on the side and was blown away by the Planetarium that they have set up there. I was fortunate enough to take an early tour and speak with the people at this place and really found it wonderful that they are catoring to students in such an inventive way. It is no wonder that because of something like this, we end up with students who are more acute to these type of things.
